eCourse based on live recordings on how to have success with Social Science and Humanities in Horizon Europe  

 Learning Objectives and structure 

Based on around 100 slides we aim along with the live recordings to transform you into a confident proposal applicant in social sciences and humanities in Horizon Europe. 

This course is ideal for researchers in social sciences understanding the whole Horizon Europe spectrum and especially pillar 2 with special focus on Cluster 2 that is highly related to Social Sciences and how to exploit it successfully. The main purpose is to motivate and mobilise researchers in social sciences to get involved successfully in Horizon Europe collaborative projects as partners first and then as coordinators. Also, attention will be given on enhancing the profile of researchers from the social science and how they could be involved as partners in any collaborative proposal even in calls that social science is not the main focus (i.e. outside Cluster 2). The participants will master the intelligence behind related Horizon Europe calls and how to exploit them to their advance and also to understand the full proposal development cycle of a winning proposal as well as how to impress the evaluators with general techniques.

This training is based on the following modules:

1st Half day

  1. Module 1: The intelligence behind the Horizon Europe structure
  2. Module 2: The intelligence behind the currently available workprogrammes on cluster 2, and behind other powerful but public tools
  3. Module 3: Master the full proposal development cycle of an Horizon Europe grant application related to social sciences with focus on key elements such as idea creation, ways to getting feedback, finding the best partners or identifying and getting involved in promising Horizon Europe proposals as a researcher in social sciences

2nd half day

  1. Module 3: Cont.
  2. Module 4: Master how to impress the evaluators based on the C.R.I.T.E.R.I.A.™ formula

About the instructor: Dr. Nikolaos FLORATOS 

Dr. Nikolaos Floratos


Nikolaos Floratos has a multidisciplinary education with a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from City University London, a Bachelor of Humanities in Greek Civilisation from Open Hellenic University, a master of science in Telecommunications and Signal Processing from Imperial College, London and he is recently awarded his  PhD in Humanities on student engagement in massive open online courses from Open University of Catalonia. After his undergraduate and postgraduate studies with distinction as engineer in London (Imperial College, City University), UK, has been working for a number of consultancy and Information Technology companies as consultant and project manager across Europe. He has also an MBA (Master in Business Administration from National Technical University of Athens and Athens University of Economics and Business) and the last 24 years he is involved in planning, managing and evaluating large and small projects in the area of research, education, ICT (Information Communication Technologies), social inclusion, entrepreneurship, standardization and consumer issues.  As a funding expert, personal trainer and coach, he has supported thousands of researchers/individuals and research organisations mainly from Europe but also from all over the world on managing public funding including support from MSCA different grant schemas and receive support for fullfiling their mission and vision in research.  He is an expert on behalf of the European Commission on evaluating and reviewing projects and proposals since 2003 and  recently, he has received his PhD on how you can increase students' engagement and motivation in eLearning courses. He is the creator of the Funding Expert Transfomation Process™ system that can transform anyone to a great proposal writer and project manager of european funded projects.
