Live  Training on Horizon Europe Proposal Planning and Project Management

Key Purpose

Participants irrespectively of their current experience, they will master the complete recipe on how to plan an Horizon Europe collaborative grant application  (Pre-award phase) and also how to manage successfully an Horizon Europe funded Project (Post-award).

Learning Objectives and Structure

No matter what is your experience in European Research, you will achieve the following  objectives for specific call(s) of your choice:

Part 1: Planning of an Horizon Europe collaborative grant application (Pre-award)

• Module 1: Understanding the intelligence behind Horizon Europe based on its structure, key documents, fundamental concepts, the call topic structure and the pre-requisites for a successful grant application
• Module 2: Mastering the full proposal development cycle of an Horizon Europe grant application
• Module 3: How to impress the evaluators of your Horizon Europe grant application
• Module 4: How to identify and join competitive consortia related to your targeted call topic

Part 2: Project Management of a funded and highly ambitious innovative project (i.e. in Horizon Europe)(Post-award)

• Module 5: Essentials for effective project management of highly ambitious projects such as a project management methodology, Pert chart and Gantt chart that work, Budgeting etc
• Module 6: Contract management
• Module 7: Conduct effective project meetings and successful reviews by the EC

Provisional Agenda

Day 1

• 09:00 to 14:00: Module 1, Module 2 and Module 3,
• After 14:00: Cultural bonding with guided tour in Acropolis site   (Worldwide Top 10 sites) with licensed guide and Greek food tasting (optional with extra charge)

Day 2

• 09:00 till 14:00:  Module 3 and Module 4,
• After 14:00: Cultural bonding with guided tour in Acropolis Museum  and Greek food tasting and dance in the evening in a Greek taverna with live music (optional with extra charge)

Day 3

• 09:00 to 14:00:  Module 5, Module 6 and Module 7,
• After 14:00: Cultural Bonding with visit at the Archaeological Museum of Athens (One of the most important ones in the world) with a licensed guide and Greek food tasting (optional with extra charge)

Important notes on the Agenda

• Each training day will include also hands on practice up to 14:00 and some optional homework for people working on their own after they go back home
• Greek food tasting/meals will take place every time in a different restaurant for testing various Greek food specialities and fall in love with the healthy and tasty authentic Mediterranean food.  
• Outdoor cultural bonding activities may be canceled in case weather conditions do not allow them to take place
• In order to facilitate networking with other successful actors in Horizon Europe, some may be invited in the training and cultural bonding activities

Venue

The training will take place in Athens Impact Hub close to  Metro station Monastiraki.

The maximum number of attendees will be 20.

Trainer: Dr. Nikolaos Floratos

Nikolaos Floratos has a multidisciplinary education with a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from City University London, a Bachelor of Humanities in Greek Civilisation from Open Hellenic University, a master of science in Telecommunications and Signal Processing from Imperial College, London and he is recently awarded his  PhD in Humanities on student engagement in massive open online courses from Open University of Catalonia. After his undergraduate and postgraduate studies with distinction as engineer in London (Imperial College, City University), UK, has been working for a number of consultancy and Information Technology companies as consultant and project manager across Europe. He has also an MBA (Master in Business Administration from National Technical University of Athens and Athens University of Economics and Business) and the last 24 years he is involved in planning, managing and evaluating large and small projects in the area of research, education, ICT (Information Communication Technologies), social inclusion, entrepreneurship, standardization and consumer issues.  As a funding expert, personal trainer and coach, he has supported thousands of researchers/individuals and research organisations mainly from Europe but also from all over the world on managing public funding including support from MSCA different grant schemas and receive support for fullfiling their mission and vision in research.  He is an expert on behalf of the European Commission on evaluating and reviewing projects and proposals since 2003 and  recently, he has received his PhD on how you can increase students' engagement and motivation in eLearning courses. He is the creator of the Funding Expert Transfomation Process™ system that can transform anyone to a great proposal writer and project manager of european funded projects. He has received more than 2000 recommendations and endorsements at his linkedin profile (www.linkedin.com/in/floratos) as a funding expert, coach and trainer.
